I put my degree in biology from Hood College to good use for seven years at the National Cancer Institute before leaving to raise children full time when my first was born. Now I have three, all students at CCM. I absolutely fell in love with the Montessori Method and decided, despite my deep love for biological research, to change careers. I did my Montessori training at the Institute of Advanced Montessori Studies in Silver Springs and am AMS certified for Elementary I and II (6-12 years old). I received my MAT in Elementary Education from Trinity Washington University in DC. I am Maryland certified for K-6 for general education and special education.
I love spending time with my family, especially in nature. I love keeping up with other Master Naturalists in the area, gardening, and cooking. I especially love to cook with things from my own garden.
In the classroom, I love connecting students with their learning and watching them grow into life long learners. I love watching them find their respectful voices as change agents. I love watching them grow, individually and as a community. It is a privilege.
