I love being a part of the CCM community as a Special Education teacher. I am originally from Texas, but have lived in West Virginia and as far away as South Africa. I received my BA and MFA from George Washington University, where I studied Psychology and Visual Communication. I earned my Master’s in Elementary Teaching from Frostburg with endorsements in Special Education and Reading. While working for FCPS, I have been trained in Language Foundations and Orton-Gillingham Instruction for supporting students with dyslexia characteristics. My husband and I currently live in the Middletown Valley and have three grown children, along with two cats. While education is a big part of my life, I also enjoy hiking, vegetable gardening, quilting, and skiing. I enjoy Montessori education because students learn skills through repeated practice with multi-sensory materials, hands-on education, and opportunities for movement built into instruction.

FUN FACTS: One summer, my family took an 8-week trip around the USA to visit many of the National Parks. We also lived in South Africa for 2.5 years when our kids were 5, 7, and 9, and traveled to Tanzania, Kenya, Botswana, Namibia, and Swaziland.
