My name is Nancy MacGregor and I am thrilled to be joining your school this year!
I grew up in Michigan where I went to The University of Michigan and earned a degree in Psychology, with minors in Education and Sociology, and a Master’s in Social Work. I worked with families in the Head Start Program and with children who were victims of abuse. I lived in New Orleans for several years, (enjoying the drastic change in weather from Michigan), where I was a social worker with homeless families and individuals, and also taught a four-year-old program in a private school. My favorite memory from this time is watching the expression on the children’s faces when we were at recess, and they got to see snow for the first time in their lives.
Eventually, my husband and I settled down here in Maryland. I stayed home with my three kids until the youngest went to kindergarten, and then I substituted at his school for ten years. Since 2007, I have been working full-time for FCPS as a Special Education Instructional Assistant, where I have been assigned to one or two Special Education students who needed help being mainstreamed into the General Education Classroom. This has been very challenging but also very rewarding.
When I have free-time, I love to garden, travel, read and play with my Ragdoll cat Holly, who has been “helping” me type this letter.
I am looking forward to meeting everyone and being a part of an amazing school!
