I’m Kelli McIntosh and I teach math and science in the middle school at Carroll Creek Montessori. My family has been a part of the CCMPCS community since its first year; my daughters love coming to school here and my husband and parents enjoy volunteering.
I am originally from Michigan where I earned my B.S.Ed. in physics and math at the University of Michigan. I started my teaching career at Walkersville High School teaching Advanced Placement Physics, Algebra-Based Physics, physical science, and geometry. During my tenure there I earned my Masters Degree in Physics Education at the University of Virginia and earned certification from the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards. I took some time off from face-to-face teaching when my children were small and taught online Advanced Placement Physics and Algebra I through Frederick County Virtual School. I also tutored students throughout the county in math from 7th grade through pre-calculus and in physics. I returned to the classroom at Oakdale Middle School teaching 8th-grade math before joining the team at Carroll Creek Montessori in 2016.
My secondary Montessori credential was earned through the Cincinnati Montessori Secondary Teacher Education Program in December 2017.
I believe that math is beautiful and that students can grow their brains through mistakes, creativity, and communication. I know that children are natural scientists; you know this because of all of the awesome observations they make and questions they ask! I am so lucky to spend my time with the adolescents at Carroll Creek Montessori as they begin their transition into adulthood.
