My name is Katie Balodis and I am very excited to begin a new adventure as a lower elementary teacher at Carroll Creek Montessori! Last year, I was a long term substitute at the school for Mrs. Bumgardner’s primary class. During that time I had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful children, parents and staff members. I appreciate that Carroll Creek Montessori is a place where staff and families work together to educate children.
If you’re curious about my background, I grew up right here in Frederick County, attending FCPS schools for K-12 and was a member of the very first class to graduate from the “new” Urbana High School! I went on to receive my degree in elementary education in 2003 from Eastern University. Since that time I have worked in two different pre-k programs, as a substitute for FCPS and as a long-term substitute for FCPS, as I mentioned before.
I have also enjoyed some time away from the classroom educating and caring for my own 3 children during their early years. My oldest daughter, Briana is now 10 and my twin daughters, Annika and Makaela are 8. Teaching and mothering take up most of my time, but when I do get a free moment I really enjoy doing anything outdoors, working out and cooking!
